Birthday Reflections

Birthdays to me are days for reflection. This year I reflected in the taxi on my way to go grocery shopping. I feel great. I have friends that have made other choices that don't feel so great. They do special exercises, they eat special diets, they take special supplements and use special medicines. But when real life demands some effort, they get tired before I do. When there's a bug going around they get sick, but I don't. When the weather changes they get uncomfortable. It's either too hot, too cold, or too humid or too dry. Some of them look terrible for their age. They all need more sleep than I do. Some actually blame MY diet or MY my bad habits for their weaknesses or illnesses.

Well, I don't care. My favorite drinks are coffee and coke which I consume in large quantities. My favorite foods are pizza, ice cream, french fries, steak and popcorn. I smoke. And yet I feel great, look great, and am doing better health-wise than most people I know, of any age. Went bushwhacking on Wutong Mtn. with my buddy Jamon (who shares a birthday with me) to see birds. We were out for 6 hours without breakfast. He's about the only one who can keep up around here.

This birthday I gloat over the good health I've put very little effort into maintaining. God bless the DeMarcos, Bukowskis and Cattanas for the excellent genetics they have bestowed.
